SYNOPSIS: DOD is amending DFARS Subpart 219.71, Pilot Mentor-Protege Program, and DFARS Appendix I, Policy and Procedures for the DOD Pilot Mentor-Protege Program, to extend, through September 30, 2005, the period during which companies may enter into agreements under the DOD Pilot Mentor-Protege Program. This implements Section 812 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2002 (Public Law 107-107).

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Public Law 107-107, Section 812, Extension of Mentor-Protege Program, extends the deadline for entering into agreements under the DOD Mentor-Protege Program from September 30, 2002, to September 30, 2005. In addition, Section 812 extends the period during which mentor firms may incur costs that are eligible for reimbursement or credit under the program from September 30, 2005, to September 30, 2008. To implement these extensions, the following changes are made by this final rule:
