SUBJECT: Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS); Technical Amendments

SOURCE: Federal Register, June 27, 2000, Vol. 65, No. 124, page 39703

AGENCIES: Department of Defense (DOD)

ACTION: Final Rule

SYNOPSIS: The DFARS is being amended to update organization names, position titles, addresses, telephone numbers, office symbols, and references; to delete obsolete or duplicative text; and to renumber and relocate text for consistency with corresponding Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) text.

EFFECTIVE DATE: June 27, 2000.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Ms. Michele Peterson, Defense Acquisition Regulations Council, OUSD (AT&L) DP (DAR), IMD 3D139, 3062 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC 20301-3062; 703-602-0311; fax: 703-602-0350.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: This final rule is strictly editorial in nature. The most frequent change seems to be revising the title "Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Technology)" to "Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics)", and changing "(A&T)" to "(AT&L)". Several changes are made to align the DFARS numbering with those in the FAR (such as taking the contents of DFARS Subpart 236.3, Special Aspects of Sealed Bidding in Construction Contracts, and moving it to DFARS 236.213, Special Procedures for Sealed Bidding in Construction Contracting), or to change or correct paragraph numbers. Also, several entries in DFARS Appendix G, Activity Address Numbers, are revised, and four entries are added (two Navy, two Marine Corps).
