ACTION: Proposed Rule
SYNOPSIS: It is proposed that the FAR be amended to move the definitions of "Applied Research" and "Development" from various sections of the FAR to FAR 2.101, Definitions.
DATES: Submit comments on or before November 13, 2000.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: This rule would remove the definitions of "Applied Research" and "Development" found in FAR 31.205-18, Independent Research and Development and Bid and Proposal Costs, and FAR 35.001, Definitions, and place them in FAR 2.101, Definitions. The proposed rule would also make editorial changes to the definitions for clarity. The editorial changes, which divide long sentences into subparagraphs, are not intended to be substantive.
